The 2008 – 09 season saw the Hawks win 47 games, their first winning season since 1999.

With almost an intact lineup from the previous year the Hawks manage to take a step forward in their development.

Again they were pushed to a Game 7 in the first round but capitalized on home-court advantage earning their first playoff series win since 1999 against the Miami Heat.

The Hawks were swept by the Cleveland Cavaliers 4 – 0 in the Conference Semifinals.
