Teeth of the radula of chiton Chaetopleura apiculata has been studied by atom-probe tomography for the chemical structure and it have been published in 2011.

It has been shown, that teeth contain fibres with surrounded by magnetite and some of them also with sodium or magnesium.

It has been probably for the first time of using atom-probe tomography for the study of radula and in biominerals.

This method can be used for example for further study of enamel and dentin of human teeth and bones.
