On July 30, he and Curt Schilling were traded to the Baltimore Orioles for Mike Boddicker in one of the most lopsided deals in baseball history.

Anderson hit his first major league home run on August 6 off of Milwaukee's Tom Filer at Baltimore's Memorial Stadium.
