Capricorn Coast has abundant primary and secondary schools, both private and public.

Some tertiary facilities are available in Yeppoon which look set to expand significantly under a proposal to merge the State-funded CQ Tafe campuses across the Central Queensland region with CQ University.

The two institutions have a close working relationship.

The proposed merger would create Queensland's first dual sector university.

With a student count close to 40, 000 students, it would also be one of the state's largest educational institutions.
