In March 2012, CQUniversity appointed former Queensland University of Technology and Monash University academic Bronwyn Fredericks to the role of Pro Vice-Chancellor ( Indigenous Engagement ).
Professor Fredericks, a Murri woman, is also the inaugural BMA Chair in Indigenous Engagement, a position funded by coal mining group BMA.
Her stated aim is to pursue engagement with the Central Queensland region's numerous Indigenous communities to improve education outcomes.
