In 2004 after Craig Kilborn left The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn, CBS held auditions for the host job in Los Angeles by allowing their nominees to host the show for one week each.
Fahey auditioned along with Michael Ian Black, Drew Carey, Ana Gasteyer, Adam Carolla, Jim Gaffigan, D. L.
Hughley, and Bob Saget.
While hosting in October and November 2004, he interviewed celebrities including Eddie Izzard, Peter Falk, Marsha Thomason, and Pat O ' Brien.
Craig Ferguson won and started hosting the new Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson in January 2005.
