She played Jane Huggett in The Huggetts Abroad ( 1949 ) and appeared as Steve in two Paul Temple films.

Among her most noted roles are as the mother in the film version of The Railway Children ( 1970 ), and as Angela in the 1980s British sitcom, Don't Wait Up ( 1983 – 90 ).
