The rulers of the Joseon Dynasty ( 1392-1897 ) was still used the terms ; " King of the Joseon " ( Hangul: 조선국왕, Hanja: 朝鮮國王 ).
In 1895, Korea declared its total independence from Chinese influence.
However, King Gojong used term of " His Majesty the Great Monarch " ( Hangul: 대군주폐하, Hanja: 大君主陛下 ) not officlal imperial title.
