The ideologically related Phalange or Kataeb party in Lebanon was modeled on European fascist movements.

It has been active as a paramilitary organization representing Lebanon's Catholic Maronites since 1936, played a major role in the Lebanese civil war of 1975-1990, perpetrated the Sabra and Shatila massacre of 1982 and held the presidency of Lebanon from 1982-1988.

However, while in power it did not institute a fascist or Falangist-modeled regime and despite maintaining armed militias is today perhaps best described as Christian democrat in ideology.
