Ever since the Islamic ( Arab ) conquest of Persia, Iranian – Arab relations have been mixed.

Arabs and Iranians share bitter cultural, historical, political, and economic rivalries that have fuelled mutual contempt.

Within the Middle East historical conflicts have always coloured neighbouring Arab countries ' dealings with Iran, sometimes peacefully coexisting, at other times in bitter conflict.

North African Arabs generally enjoy closer relations with Iran, having a history with fewer occasions for conflict.
