Tuvalu is notable for its absence of membership is several major international organizations.
For example, it is one of only four UN members that do not belong to the International Civil Aviation Organization ; the other three nations are Dominica, Liechtenstein ( which has no airports at all ), and Niue.
Similarly, Tuvalu is among only 10 UN members that are not members of the World Meteorological Organization and one of only 13 UN members that are not members of the International Finance Corporation.
Moreover, Tuvalu is one of only 16 UN members that have neither member nor observers of the World Trade Organization.
Finally, as with many other nations in Oceania, Tuvalu is not a member of Interpol or of the International Hydrographic Organization.
