That entire section of country bordering on the Potomac and Monongahela rivers was known as the back door of the Revolution.

Frankfort was right in the heart of this section.

The reason why we see so little mentioned from this section of Virginia in the story of the Revolution is that the men were kept busy watching the Indians.
