Facing a general strike over wage arrears for civil servants in January 2008, Bozizé appointed a new government headed by Faustin-Archange Touadéra, an academic figure who was politically unknown.

In that government he kept the defense portfolio, while also appointing his son Francis Bozizé to work under him as Minister-Delegate.

Bozizé's sister, Yvonne M ' Boïssona, who had been Minister of Tourism, was reappointed to the government as Minister of Water, Forests, Hunting, Fishing, and the Environment.
