In Amsterdam graffiti was a major part of the punk scene.

The city was covered with names as ' De Zoot ', ' Vendex ' and ' Dr Rat '.

To document the graffiti a punk magazine was started called Gallery Anus.

So when hip hop came to Europe in the early 1980s there already was a vibrant graffiti culture.
