In July 2008, the company after a series of change of ownership was eventually acquired by the US private equity firm, NRDC Equity Partners, which also owned American department store chain Lord & Taylor.

From 2008 to 2012, the company was run through a holding company of NRDC, Hudson's Bay Trading Company, which was dissolved on 23 January 2012.

As of August 2012, the company is directly managed by NRDC and it also oversees the operations of Lord & Taylor in the United States.
