Indium does not react with water, but it is oxidized by stronger oxidizing agents, such as halogens or oxalic acid, to give indium ( III ) compounds.
It does not react with boron, silicon or carbon, and the corresponding boride, silicide or carbide are not known.
Similarly, reaction between indium and hydrogen has not been observed, but both indium ( I ) and indium ( III ) hydrides are known.
