The International Peace Mission movement is a religious utopian movement started by Father Divine, an African American who claimed to be God.
Its heyday was in the 1930s USA when it made great depression era headlines for its radical racial integration stance, huge communal dinner banquets, teachings that its faithful members ' would never die ', political cooperation with the Communist Party USA, as well as the scandalized stories of ' mind control ' and alleged sexual improprieties of Father Divine.
Headquartered in inner-city Harlem, New York, it claimed millions of members worldwide at its organizational zenith.
