Unfortunately, in Northern Rhodesia the local people believed outside trouble-makers, who assured them that they could refuse to move.
The Government tried and tried to persuade them to move, including even a visit by the Governor himself, which was a disaster.
Ultimately, this process resulted in the moves taking place six months later than they should have done, with the result that it was too late to plant crops.
