The differences of opinion and theory cited above indicate that the learning process is not yet understood.
As our understanding of the brain and learning develop we should expect that the educational theory debate will gradually be replaced by a neuroscience-based theory of learning.
We are in a similar position to the one found in medicine in the mid-19th century where a range of opinions and theories vied for position.
