Suspecting Laura returns his feelings, Luke traps her on a sailboat and forces her to admit her love for him.

Rather than making love to her, Luke again orders Laura to turn him in for raping her.

Laura refuses.

Luke realizes he should marry Jennifer, since he is in too deep with the mob to ever be with Laura.

Laura writes Luke a letter, which Scott finds on the day of Luke's marriage to Jennifer.

Scott interrupts the ceremony on Frank's yacht and knocks Luke overboard, leading everyone to believe he had died.

Eventually, Luke reveals to Laura he is alive.

He has stolen Frank's encoded black book, which holds the details of all of his criminal dealings.

Realizing they could be free of the mob and be together if they could decode the book, the two flee Port Charles as Frank Smith's men pursue them.
