For a time, there was talk of building a new park for the Twins on the old Met site that would be connected to the Mall of America.

However, the terms of the agreement in which the land was sold to Triple Five Group, owners of the Mall of America, do not allow another stadium to be built on the site.

Even without this to consider, the site is now directly in a flight path for Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
