Néstor Kirchner took active part in the government conflict with the agricultural sector in 2008.
During this conflict he became president of the Justicialist Party, and declared full support for Cristina Fernández de Kirchner in the conflict.
He accused the agricultural sector of attempting a coup d ' état.
He was one of the speakers in a demonstration made next to the Argentine National Congress supporting a law project on the matter, that would be voted the following day.
Kirchner requested by then to accept the result in the Congress.
Many senators who had formerly supported the government's proposal rejected it.
The voting ended in a tie with 36 supporting votes and 36 rejecting votes.
As a result, vicepresident Julio Cobos, president of the chamber of senators, was required to cast a decisive vote.
Cobos voted for the rejection, and the law proposal was rejected.
