The volume Rechtsextremismus in Österreich seit 1945 ( Right-wing Extremism in Austria since 1945 ), issued by DÖW in 1979, listed nearly 50 active far right organizations in Austria.

In the 1995 elections for the student representative body Österreichische Hochschülerschaft ( Austrian Students ' Association ), the RFS got 4 % of the vote.

The FPÖ won 22 % of the votes at the General Election in the same year.
