Richmond Park is a 2, 360 acre ( 9. 55 kmĀ² ; 3. 69 sq mi ) park, National Nature Reserve and a Site of Special Scientific Interest, in south west London.
The largest of London's Royal Parks, it was created by Charles I in 1634.
Richmond Park is the second largest park in London ( after the 10, 000 acre Lee Valley Park, whose area extends beyond the M25 into Hertfordshire and Essex ) and is Britain's second largest urban walled park after Sutton Park, Birmingham.
It is close to Richmond, Ham, Kingston upon Thames, Wimbledon, Roehampton and East Sheen.
The park is famous for its red and fallow deer, which number over six hundred.
