* On January 30, 2011, Rockland Community College held a ceremonial swearing of David Carlucci, Independent democrat from New City, an alumnus of Rockland Community College ( class 0f 2000 ) and youngest senator to be elected in New York history representing the New York Senate 38th district.

The event was hosted by Harriet Cornell, chair of the Rockland County Legislature.

Speaking at the event were New York senior United States senator Chuck Schumer, United States House of Representatives – Eliot Engel – New York's 17th congressional district and Nita Lowey – New York's 18th congressional district and from the New York State Assembly – Kenneth Zebrowski, Jr. 94th district and Ellen Jaffee – 95th district.
