Within a week, two of the city's largest employers announced they were closing.
On October 31, 2008, HYOSUNG ( America ) INC, an iron and steel tubing manufacturer, announced it was shutting down.
Then on November 6, 2008, Fruedenburg-NOK, announced it was also closing.
Within a week, a total of 239 jobs were lost.
