The areas to the north of Semerange have frequent flooding due to both the Singapore and Kreo rivers overflowing their banks and high tides ( called " robs " in the region ).

Major flooding has hit Semerange in 1973, 1988, 1990 and 1993.

Forty-seven people were kiled during the 1990 flood itself.
