Plautianus's daughter, Fulvia Plautilla, was married to Severus's son, Caracalla.

Plautianus ’ s excessive power came to an end in 205, when he was denounced by the Emperor's dying brother and killed.

However, the two following praefecti, including the jurist Aemilius Papinianus, received even larger powers.
