The snowshoe hare is a major prey item for a number of predators.
Major predators include Canada lynx ( Lynx canadensis ), bobcats ( L. rufus ), fishers ( Martes pennanti ), American martens ( M. americana ), long-tailed weasels ( Mustela frenata ), minks ( M. vison ), foxes ( Vulpes and Urocyon spp.
