By December 1958 Herb Abramson, founder of the newly established Triumph Records, signed Burke to a recording contract, with an eye on the pop market.
However, Burke was unable to record for Triumph as it was discovered that his contract with Apollo Records had not expired.
Abramson recommended Burke contact Miriam Bienstock, Abramson ' e ex-wife, who was an owner of Atlantic Records, about his songs.
