In Africa, spelling bee is promoted by a company Gift People Limited, which currently organizes the Annual National Spelling Bee contest for children between the age of 7 and 14 in Nigeria.
This effort commenced in 2008 when the first National finals was held in Lagos.
It is popularly referred to as SPELLIT!
