While much of normal news agency work is little publicized, many UP / UPI news staffers did gain fame, either while with the agency or in later careers.
They included journalists, news executives, novelists and high government officials.

Veteran foreign correspondent Arnaud de Borchgrave worked for UP / UPI both early and late in his career, some fifty years apart.
