Dorn is the only Star Trek actor to have worked concurrently on the Next Generation films and the Deep Space Nine series, both of which are set in the same time period.

There are scenes in First Contact and Insurrection to explain his absence from Deep Space 9 and reunion with Captain Jean-Luc Picard's officers.

In First Contact Worf is initially commanding USS Defiant before he is beamed aboard the Enterprise, while in Insurrection Picard jokes that Worf was late for his bridge shift due to being accustomed to life aboard Deep Space 9.
