The Massachusetts Youth and Government program draws the interest of students from all over the state of Massachusetts.
The program hosts 3 pre-legislative meetings, or pre-legs throughout the year to help prepare for the conference in late March.
The annual conference is held at the Massachusetts State House in Boston, Massachusetts.
For those three days, students are able to take part in debate as well as develop essential leadership skills.
Members have the option of participating in one of the four branches ; legislative, judicial, lobbyists, or press corps.
The legislative branch holds itself as the branch with the most participants.
A delegate in the legislative branch drafts and presents a bill each year in hopes of passing it through the house or senate chambers, and into law.
At the annual spring conference, the executive branch positions for governor and lieutenant governor are announced.
The current governor is Ryan Miller of the Boston College High School-Dorchester delegation, and the lieutenant governor David Coletti, of the Boston College High School-Dorchester delegation.
Also selected at the spring conference are delegates who applied through an application process to join the Massachusetts delegation at the Conference on National Affairs in Black Mountain, NC.
