The Ohio Youth in Government program began in 1952 and reflects the idea that " democracy must be learned by each generation " and is based on Thomas Jefferson's belief that, " the purpose of education is to create good citizens of the community ".
The program consists of a two-house legislature, a judicial section, a press section and a group of lobbyists.
Every year, the Ohio program holds a bill rating on a Saturday morning at the state house in Columbus.
The Main Conference is held in the Ohio Capitol Building in Columbus, from Thursday afternoon through Saturday just before noon.
It is a tremendous experience and chance for students to get a hands-on learning experience about how the government works on a state level.
