In July 2011, the International Center for Transitional Justice published a report entitled “ To Live as Other Kenyans do: A Study of the Demands of Kenyan Victims of Human Rights Violations ”.

In a recent study of jealousy by Mullen & Martin in 1994, 15 % of both men and women reported that at some time they had been “ subjected to physical violence at the hands of a jealous partner .” Culturally, jealousy may be even used to “ justify violence towards partners .” Victims in a homicide case are most likely to be current or ex-partners, in both female and male perpetrators.

In 1918 the square was renamed to “ The Place of the Victims of Revolution ” but in 1944 it was renamed back.

In April 2010, Forum 2000 held an international conference entitled “ Forgotten Victims ” in cooperation with the Remembrance, Responsibility and Future Foundation.

During early graduate studies, he attended a lecture by Saul Friedländer, in which he had what he describes as a " lightbulb moment ": the functionalism versus intentionalism debate did not address the question, “ When Hitler ordered the annihilation of the Jews, why did people execute the order ?” Goldhagen wanted to investigate who were the German men and women who killed the Jews, and their reasons for killing.

Goldhagen ’ s first notable publication was the New Republic magazine book review “ False Witness ” ( 1989 ) of Why Did the Heavens Not Darken?

Goldhagen said that “ Mayer ’ s enormous intellectual error ” is in ascribing the cause of the Holocaust to anti-Communism, rather than to anti-Semitism, and criticized Prof. Mayer ’ s saying that most massacres of Jews in the USSR, during the first weeks of Operation Barbarossa ( 1941 ) in the summer of 1941, were committed by local peoples, with little Wehrmacht participation, and accused him of traducing the facts about the Wannsee Conference ( 1942 ), which was meant for plotting the genocide of European Jews, not ( as Mayer said ) merely the resettlement of the Jews.

Goldhagen further accused Mayer of obscurantism, of suppressing historical fact, and of being an apologist for Nazi Germany, like Ernst Nolte, for attempting to “ de-demonize ” National Socialism.

( 1988 ) in Commentary magazine, and praised Goldhagen ’ s “ False Witness ” review, identifying him as a rising Holocaust historian who formally rebutted “ Mayer's falsification ” of history.

According to Goldhagen, his Holocaust studies address questions about the political, social, and cultural particulars behind other genocides: “ Who did the killing ?” “ What, despite temporal and cultural differences, do mass killings have in common ?”, which yielded Worse Than War: Genocide, Eliminationism, and the Ongoing Assault on Humanity, about the global nature of genocide, and averting such crimes against humanity.

" Daniel Goldhagen recalled how Hitler had said “ To attain our aim we should stop at nothing even if we must join forces with the devil ...” and that, in Goldhagen's view, is what Hitler did in agreeing the Concordat with the Church.

Bauer has criticized the work of the American political scientist Daniel Goldhagen, who writes that the Holocaust was the result of the allegedly unique “ eliminationist ” antisemitic culture of the Germans.

In Bauer ’ s opinion, if the average German had been full of murderous “ eliminationist " antisemitism, as Goldhagen argues, there would have been fewer mixed marriages.

Goldhagen in his turn has accused Bauer of not understanding his arguments properly and of being jealous of what Goldhagen considers to be his discovery of the “ key ” that explains the entire Holocaust.

During the “ Goldhagen Controversy ” of 1996, Mommsen emerged as one of Daniel Goldhagen's leading opponents, and often debated Goldhagen on German TV.

In 1959 Richard Nixon, then Vice President, and Nikita Khrushchev held discussions at the Moscow Trade Fair, which became known as the “ Kitchen Debate ” because they were mostly held in the kitchen of a suburban model house.

A friendly rivalry, however, continues to this day between Conservative and Liberal members, who consider themselves “ Clios ” and “ Whigs ”, respectively, and take their places on opposite sides of the Senate chamber, to adversarially continue the nearly two and a half century ’ s tradition of Parliamentary Debate.

Debate is also focused on whether space should continue to be legally defined as part of the “ common heritage of man ,” and therefore unavailable for national claims, or whether its legal definition should be changed to allow private property in space.

During the third and final Bush-Kerry Presidential Debate, moderator Bob Schieffer asked, “ Do you believe homosexuality is a choice ?” John Kerry replied, " If you were to talk to Dick Cheney's daughter, who is a lesbian, she would tell you that she's being who she was, she's being who she was born as .” This prompted an angry response from Dick Cheney, who stated, “ You saw a man who will say and do anything in order to get elected.

Known as the “ Kitchen Debate ,” the exchange between Nixon and Khrushchev foreshadowed Khrushchev ’ s increased attention to the needs of women, especially by creating modern kitchens.

Callicott has worked with conservation biologists to develop a philosophy of conservation and conservation values and ethics, based in part on the recent paradigm shift in ecology from what he calls the “ balance of nature ” to the “ flux of nature .” He has been a strong critic of the “ received wilderness idea ”: the idea that wildernesses are places that are “ untrammeled by man, where man himself is a visitor who does not remain .” That idea, Callicott claims in The Great New Wilderness Debate ( 1998 ), perpetuates a pre-Darwinian human-nature dualism ; in effect, it “ erases ” from collective memory the indigenous inhabitants of North America and Australia, liberating the current inhabitants of those continents from disturbing thoughts of their own heritage of genocide.

As Claire Raines points out in ‘ Beyond Generation X ’, “ never before in history had youth been so idealized as they were at this moment .” When Generation X came along it had much to live up to and to some degree in the shadow of the Boomers, sometimes compared and / or criticized (‘ spoiled ’, ‘ whiners ’ and ‘ the doom generation ’) than not.
