Abu Bakr's full name was ' Abd Allah ibn ' Uthman ibn Aamir ibn Amr ibn Ka ' ab ibn Sa ' ad ibn Taym ( from whom the at-Taymi al-Quraishi ) ibn Murrah ibn Ka ' ab ibn Lu ' ai ibn Ghalib ibn Fihr al-Quraishi.

Bedr managed to line up three Syrian commanders – Obeid Allah ibn Uthman and Abd Allah ibn Khalid, both originally of Damascus, and Yusuf ibn Bukht of Qinnasrin.

The first four Caliphs: Abu Bakr as-Siddiq, Umar ibn al-Khattab, Uthman ibn Affan and Ali ibn Abi Talib are commonly known by Sunnis, mainly, as the Khulafā ’ ur-Rāshideen (" rightly guided successors ") Caliphs.

After Muhammed died, a series of Caliphs governed the Islamic State: Abu Bakr ( 632-634 ), Umar ibn al-Khattab ( Umar І, 634-644 ), Uthman ibn Affan, ( 644-656 ), and Ali ibn Abi Talib ( 656-661 ).

Begun in the time of Uthman ibn Affan, the compilation of the Qur ' an was finished sometime between 650 and 656, Uthman sent copies to the different centers of the expanding Islamic empire.

The death of Uthman was followed by a civil war known as the First Fitna, and the succession to Ali ibn Abi Talib was disputed, leading to the split between the Sunni and Shia sects, and later to competing caliphates when the descendants of Muhammad through his daughter Fatimah and Ali set up separate Fatimid societies.

Muslim historians say that Caliph Uthman ibn Affan ( the third khalifa ( caliph ) of the Rashidun Empire, or third successor of Muhammad, who had formerly been Muhammad's secretary ), is generally believed to urge Muslims to record the hadith just as Muhammad suggested to some of his followers to write down his words and actions.

On the fourth day after the death of Umar, 11 November 644, 5 Muharram 24 Hijri, Uthman was elected as the third Caliph, with the title " Amir al-Mu ' minin ".

He began his movement through peaceful discussions with attendees of various shrines and eventually gained popular support by convincing the local Amir, Uthman ibn Mu ' ammar, to help him in his struggle.

They soon released Uthman and sent down an ambassador of their own, Suhail ibn Amr to negotiate terms of a treaty that later became known as the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah.

After el-Omar's death in 1775, Jezzar Pasha allowed Uthman to continue as a ruler of Shefa -' Amr in return for a promise of loyalty and advance payment of taxes.

al-Jāḥiẓ ( in Arabic الجاحظ ) ( real name Abu Uthman Amr ibn Bahr al-Kinani al-Fuqaimi al-Basri ) ( born in Basra, 781 – December 868 / January 869 ) was an Arabic prose writer and author of works of literature, Mu ' tazili theology, and politico-religious polemics.

People involved were Abd-Ya-Layl ibn Amr, Mugheera ibn Shu ' ba, Khalid ibn Sa ' id ibn al-Aas, Uthman ibn Abu-al-Aas and Abu Sufyan ibn Harb.

Ancient Arabs also used election to choose their caliph, Uthman and Ali, in the early medieval Rashidun Caliphate ; and to select the Pala king Gopala in early medieval Bengal.

Uthman also modified the zakat collection protocol, by decreeing that only " apparent " wealth was taxable, which had the effect of limiting zakat to mostly being paid on agricultural land and produce.

Umar I also appointed Uthman bin Abi Al Aas as governor of the area.

Uthman also appointed Walid ibn Uqba, Uthman's half-brother, as the governor of Kufa, who was accused, by Hashmites, of leading prayer while under the influence of alcohol.

Uthman also consolidated Muawiyah's governorship of Syria by granting him control over a larger area and appointed his foster brother Abdullah ibn Saad as the Governor of Egypt.

Shaihu Usman dan Fodio (), born Usuman ɓii Foduye, ( also referred to as Shaikh Usman Ibn Fodio, Shehu Uthman Dan Fuduye, or Shehu Usman dan Fodio, 1754 – 1817 ) was the founder of the Sokoto Caliphate in 1809, a religious teacher, writer and Islamic promoter.

Upon Saladin's death, az-Zahir took Aleppo from al-Adil per the arrangement and al-Aziz Uthman held Cairo, while his eldest son, al-Afdal retained Damascus — which also included Palestine and much of Lebanon.

Mālik and others also thought that ibn Isḥāq exhibited Qadari tendencies, had a preference for Ali over Uthman ( Guillaume also found evidence of this, p. xxii, xxiv ), and relied too heavily on what were later called the Isrā ' īlīyāt.

According to one version Marwan asked Muhammad's wife Aisha also to allow his relative Uthman ibn Affan to be buried beside the Prophet if Hasan were to be buried there, but Aisha refused Marwan's request and did not allow anyone else to be buried beside Muhammad.

The two groups also disagree on Ali's attitude towards Abu Bakr, and the two caliphs who succeeded him: Umar and Uthman ibn Affan.
