The project was interrupted by Death's release The Sound of Perseverance in 1998, but finally the debut album The Fragile Art of Existence was released in 1999.

In an Avengers Annual the Grandmaster reveals his sacrifice was a ruse as he is able to steal Death's powers and via another deception tricks the entity into banishing all Elders from the Realm of the Dead, effectively rendering them immortal.

In The Thanos Imperative, the Captain Marvel of the Cancerverse, called Lord Mar-Vell, using a ritual to the Many-angled ones that involves sacrificing the Avatar of Death, is able to destroy Death's M-body and remove her from his universe.

Thanos destroys the minion in a fit of anger and stalks from Death's throne room, trying to comprehend his miscalculation, and finally wondering, while shedding a tear, how becoming God could prove such a hollow victory.

He and a group of other Elders then conspired to kill Galactus and restart the universe ; they felt that being banned from Death's realm would make them the sole survivors to continue their obsessions in a whole new universe.

Death's hollow, peculiar voice is represented in the books by unquoted ; since he is a skeleton, he has no vocal cords to speak with, and therefore the words enter the head with no involvement from the ears.

An Avengers Annual eventually reveals that this was a ruse perpetrated by the Grandmaster as he is able to steal Death's powers and then via another deception forces the entity to banish all Elders from her realm, effectively making them immortal.

Part of his rule involved keeping Cyclonus & Scourge from ever being in a position to usurp him, even arranging for them to botch Death's Head's hit on Prime so he would kill them-this failed when Unicron sent them, backed up by a mind-controlled Death's Head, to assassinate him and take control of the Decepticons.

Stealing away when the device was activated, Wreck-Gar found the remains of Bumblebee ( obliterated by Death's Head, a bounty hunter from the future trying to claim a bounty on Galvatron ) and rebuilt him into Goldbug.

The issue of the Italian Hall being built in 1908 with " outward swinging doors ," was also published previously in Death's Door which was also named a Michigan Notable book by the Library of Michigan in 2007.

In the third issue of the All-New Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe A – Z ( released on March 22, 2006 ), the entry for Death's Head's describes his encounters with the Transformers to have taken place in an alternate reality, referred to as Earth-120185, thus separating these stories from existence in standard Marvel Universe continuity.
