Angilbert delivered the document on Iconoclasm from the Frankish Synod of Frankfurt to Pope Adrian I, and was later sent on three important embassies to the pope, in 792, 794 and 796.

The help which he wanted from the West was simply mercenary forces and not the immense hosts which arrived, to his consternation and embarrassment, after the pope preached the First Crusade at the Council of Clermont later that same year.

Pope Benedict XIII ( 2 February 1650 – 21 February 1730 ), born Pietro Francesco Orsini, later Friar Vincenzo Maria Orsini, O. P., was pope from 1724 until his death.

His notable acts as pope include the unprecedented privilege of empowering Francis of Apt, a Franciscan friar, to confer the clerical tonsure and minor orders on Louis of Toulouse ( who would later become Bishop of Toulouse ), the son of the King of Sicily.

* December – Pope Theodore II succeeds Pope Romanus as the 115th pope, but dies twenty days later.

* 1268 – Pope Clement IV dies ; the following papal election fails to choose a new pope for almost three years, precipitating the later creation of stringent rules governing the electoral procedures.

* 1265 – Correspondence from Pope Clement IV contains the first known mention of the ring of the Fisherman, an item of papal regalia then used to seal personal correspondence from the pope and later for papal bulls.

Cassian speaks of an abbot in Egypt doing this ; and in later times we have another example in the case of St Bruno.

Saint Alcuin had a long career as a teacher and scholar, first at the school at York, founded in AD 627 ( now known as St Peter's School, York ) and later as Charlemagne's leading advisor on ecclesiastical and educational matters.

St Athanasius was originally buried in Alexandria, Egypt, but his body was later transferred to the Chiesa di San Zaccaria in Venice, Italy.

The Order of St Benedict is of later origin and, moreover, not an " order " as commonly understood but merely a confederation of autonomous congregations.

While in Rome for Otto's imperial coronation, Bruno met Saint Adalbert of Prague, the first Apostle of the Prussians, killed a year later, which inspired Bruno to write a biography of St Adalbert when he reached the recently Christianized and consolidated Kingdom of Hungary himself.

To avoid high taxation in Britain, he moved to the Channel Islands and settled at St Martin's, Guernsey, where he purchased Les Caches Hall and later restored Annesville Manor.

He removed Theodora from the Great Palace to the Carian Palace and later to the monastery of Gastria, but, after the death of Bardas, she was released to live in the palace of St Mamas ; she also had a rural residence at the Anthemian Palace, where Michael was assassinated in 867.
