Cyan and magenta
Cyan is also one of the common inks used in four-color printing, along with magenta, yellow, and black ; this set of colors is referred to as CMYK as in spectrum ( s ).
Cyan can be thought of as minus-red, magenta as minus-green, and yellow as minus-blue.

Cyan and yellow
Cyan is zero magnitude, green – yellow – red and blue – pink – red are increasing strengths in opposing directions.

magenta and yellow
Printing plates were created with four or more colors — traditionally, the CMYK color model: cyan, magenta, yellow and " K " for black.
These end up creating yellow, cyan, and magenta layers in the negative after development.

Without special film processing, the result would simply be three superimposed black-and-white images, but complementary cyan, magenta, and yellow dye images were created in those layers by adding color couplers during a complex processing procedure.
In color image systems, a color is typically represented by three or four component intensities such as red, green, and blue, or cyan, magenta, yellow, and black.
When one of the components has the strongest intensity, the color is a hue near this primary color ( reddish, greenish, or bluish ), and when two components have the same strongest intensity, then the color is a hue of a secondary color ( a shade of cyan, magenta or yellow ).
A secondary color is formed by the sum of two primary colors of equal intensity: cyan is green + blue, magenta is red + blue, and yellow is red + green.
Every secondary color is the complement of one primary color ; when a primary and its complementary secondary color are added together, the result is white: cyan complements red, magenta complements green, and yellow complements blue.

CMYK refers to the four inks used in some color printing: cyan, magenta, yellow, and key ( black ).
The " K " in CMYK stands for key since in four-color printing cyan, magenta, and yellow printing plates are carefully keyed or aligned with the key of the black key plate.

This close-up of printed halftone rasters show that magenta on top of yellow appears as orange / red, and cyan on top of yellow appears as green.
Without halftoning, the three primary process colors could be printed only as solid blocks of color, and therefore could produce only seven colors: the three primaries themselves, plus three secondary colors produced by layering two of the primaries: cyan and yellow produce green, cyan and magenta produce a purplish blue, yellow and magenta produce red ( these subtractive secondary colors correspond roughly to the additive primary colors ) plus layering all three of them resulting in black.
Unlike subtractive systems that use magenta, yellow, and cyan inks, additive systems such as computer displays mix red, green, and blue light to make all colors.
In color printing, the color called process magenta, or pigment magenta, or printer's magenta is one of the three primary pigment colors which, along with yellow and cyan, constitute the three subtractive primary colors of pigment.
