With the conversion of the Wenvoe transmitter in Wales to digital on 31 March 2010, Channel 4 became an entirely UK-wide TV channel for the first time.

Since then, carriage on digital cable, satellite and digital terrestrial has introduced Channel 4 to Welsh homes where it is now universally available.

In Israel, FNC is broadcast on Channel 105 of the pay-TV cable operator YES digital platform.

In New Zealand, FNC is broadcast on Channel 092 of pay satellite operator SKY TV's digital platform.

In Singapore, FNC is broadcast on Channel 702 of the pay-TV cable operator StarHub TV digital platform.

In South Africa, FNC is broadcast on Channel 405 of pay satellite operator TopTV's digital platform.

On satellite, channels that devote at least some of their program schedule to post-syndication reruns include Nick at Nite, TV Land, TBS, USA Network, WGN America, TV Guide Network, The Hub, Game Show Network, Boomerang, Nicktoons Network, INSP, RFD-TV, and the Hallmark Channel ; on terrestrial digital television otherwise-vacant subchannels may be used to carry Retro Television Network, Antenna TV, Me-TV, This TV or PBJ.

Since the introduction of digital television, the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 each introduced a number of digital-only channels.

There is no comparable British commercial network as Channel 4 abandoned plans to launch its own speech-based digital radio station in October 2008 as part of a £ 100m cost cutting review.

The United Kingdom has approximately 160 digital channels ( including the regional variations of BBC channels, ITV channels, Channel 4 and Channel 5 ) are broadcast without encryption from the Astra 28. 2 ° E satellite constellation, and receivable on any DVB-S-compliant receiver ( a DVB-S2 receiver is required for certain HDTV services ).

In the Republic of Ireland the UK edition is available on most cable / digital operators but with local advertisements on Discovery Channel.

In Flanders, the Dutch speaking part of Belgium, a Flemish Discovery Channel launched ( previously the Dutch version was available for IPTV, DVB-C and DVB-S ) on Cable ( and digital ) Television on October 1, 2009.

Asian version of the Discovery Channel is available on digital subscription television.

On May 26, 2010 Disney-ABC Television Group announced the launch of a new 24-hour preschool-targeted digital cable and satellite channel called Disney Junior, which made its debut on March 23, 2012 ; the Disney Junior channel ( which is commercial-free, like parent network Disney Channel but unlike SOAPnet, which it replaced, and Disney XD ) will compete with other preschooler-skewing cable channels such as Nick Jr., qubo and PBS Kids Sprout.

* Disney Channel On Demand is the channel's video-on-demand service, offering select episodes of the channel's original series and Disney Junior programming, along with select original movies and behind-the-scenes features to digital cable and IPTV providers.

On September 16, 2002, the Vault Disney block was discontinued in favor of same-day repeats of the channel's original and off-network series, primarily to contribute to the network's then-upcoming " hip " image ; the removal of the block resulted in Disney Channel not featuring any programming targeted at adult audiences for the first time in the channel's history – with the only programming that intentionally targets the entire family being the channel's primetime feature films ; as of June 2011, Disney Channel is the only one of the largest American children's cable networks that does not target both kids during the daytime, and a family / adult audience at night ( Nickelodeon, The Hub and Cartoon Network each feature program blocks that target such a dual audience ).

When it was shown on British television, Channel 4 carried the image whilst the soundtrack was broadcast simultaneously on BBC Radio 3, a collaborative project unique for its time.

Even the footage of the ' first ' Australian TV broadcast with Bruce Gyngell on Channel 9, Sydney ( see image above ) is a fabrication — according to Gerald Stone the kinescope film of the actual Sep. 1956 broadcast was lost and the footage that exists today is a considerably more polished re-enactment, made a year later.

Premium channels-some of Sky Sports and Sky Movies are always available, with more movies and the Fantasy Channel in some areas-use a simple image rotation system that is similar to 1980s satellite TV systems.

In 2012, it was again used as a first light image of the Discovery Channel Telescope with the Large Monolithic Imager.

In 1862, a flood pierced another opening, the Thyborøn Channel, through the remainder of Agger Tange ( see satellite image ).

In eight years of active service as an officer, he served two and a half years in a surveying ship in the Mediterranean ( 1818 – 21 ), one and a half years in a surveying sloop in the English Channel and off the coast of Ireland ( 1823 – 24 ), and one and a half years as Surveyor of the frigate during a voyage ( 1824 – 26 ) to and from the Hawaiian Islands ( then known as the " Sandwich islands ").
