Through the efforts of Rabbi Henry Cohen and Congregation B ' nai Israel, Galveston became the focus of an immigration plan called the Galveston Movement that, between 1907 and 1914, diverted roughly 10, 000 Eastern European, Jewish immigrants from the crowded cities of the Northeastern United States.

In 1924, monks and priests B. Skrinda and B. Valpirts of the Marijani Congregation arrived to Viļāni.

* Congregation B ' Nai Torah – Jewish

He graduated from the University of Notre Dame, which is also run by the Congregation of Holy Cross, with a B. B. A in 1957.

The Oppenheimer family also offered land to the Vancouver Jewish community for a synagogue, the Congregation B ' nai Yehuda, which was located at Pender and Heatley Streets in the Strathcona neighbourhood, then the focus of the city's Jewish community ( soon after renamed Congregation Schara Tzedeck and since located to Oak Street ).

* B ' nai Jeshurun – In 1825, Ashkenazi members left the city's first Jewish house of worship, the Sephardic Congregation Shearith Israel, beginning a trek up Manhattan that would land them on West 88th Street between West End Avenue and Broadway.

Rabbi Asher Lopatin of Anshe Sholom B ' nai Israel Congregation is quoted as saying Emanuel's family is " a very involved Jewish family ", adding that " Amy was one of the teachers for a class for children during the High Holidays two years ago.

Karaite Synagogue Congregation B ’ nai Israel ( Daly City, California )

The Synagogue KJA Congregation B ' nai Israel is located in Daly City, California, which is a suburb of San Francisco.

On the strength of this impulse given to the Litany of Loreto, certain ascetical writers began to publish a great number of litanies in honour of the Saviour, the B. Virgin, and the saints, often ill-advised and containing expressions theologically incorrect, so that Pope Clement VIII had promulgated ( 6 Sept., 1601 ) a severe decree of the Holy Office, which, while upholding the litanies contained in the liturgical books as well as the Litany of Loreto, prohibited the publication of new litanies, or use of those already published in public worship, without the approbation of the Congregation of Rites.

Chertoff was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, to Rabbi Gershon Baruch Chertoff ( 1915 – 96 ), the former leader of the Congregation B ' nai Israel in Elizabeth and Talmud scholar, and Livia Chertoff ( née Eisen ), El Al flight attendant.

Congregation B ' nai Israel is the only Karaite synagogue in the United States.

Beth Shalom B ' nai Zaken Ethiopian Hebrew Congregation ( House of Peace for the Children of the Ancient Ethiopian Hebrews ), at 66th Street and Kedzie Avenue, serves members of the local Jewish community, many of whom are black.

The Congregation Adath Jeshurun, Seventh street and Columbia avenue, was founded in Aug., 1859, S. B. Breidenbach being its first rabbi ; Henry Iliowizi held the office from 1888 until 1901 ( resigned ), when B. C. Ehrenreich was appointed in his stead.

They had many synagogues and ḥebras, the most important being the Congregation B ' nai Abraham, founded in 1882 ; B. L. Levinthal was rabbi of this and the associated congregations in 1904.

In 1857 the community was incorporated as the Congregation B ' nai B ' rith.

In the 1860s, they moved to Louisiana, followed by Waco, Texas in 1869, finally settling in Galveston in 1878, where he joined the Jewish Texan Congregation B ' nai Israel.

From 1911 – 12 he was Rabbi of the Conservative Congregation B ' nai Jeshurun.

There are three Jewish congregations in Mount Airy ( Germantown Jewish Centre, P ' nai Or Jewish Renewal Congregation of Philadelphia, and Chabad-Lubovitch of Northwest Philadelphia ).

There are several synagogues and Jewish congregations in Rhawnhurst including Ahavas Torah, Beth Medrash Harav, B ' nai Israel – Ohev Zedek, The Lubavitcher Center, Ner Zedek Ezrath Israel, and Congregation Mesilat Yesharim.

Ann Arbor's Jewish community also grew after the turn of the 20th century, and its first and oldest synagogue, Beth Israel Congregation, was established in 1916.

Kaplan began his career as an Orthodox rabbi at Congregation Kehilath Jeshurun in New York City, was a founder in 1912 of the Young Israel movement of Modern Orthodox Judaism, and was the first rabbi hired by the new ( Orthodox ) Jewish Center in Manhattan when it was founded in 1918.

* Congregation Shearith Israel, 1655, is the oldest congregation in the United States, its present building dates from 1897.

Congregation Mikvé Israel built this synagogue in 1692 ; it was reconstructed in 1732.

The Newport congregation, now referred to as Congregation Jeshuat Israel, is the second oldest Jewish congregation in the United States and meets in the oldest standing synagogue in the United States, Touro Synagogue.

* Congregation Shearith Israel

Gadsden is home to Congregation Beth Israel, a Reform synagogue founded in 1908.

They built a synagogue, Congregation Knesseth Israel, that is still standing and in use by an active Modern Orthodox congregation today and is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Cedarhurst is home to a number of shuls, including the Chofetz Chaim Torah Center, Congregation Tifereth Zvi, Kehilas Bais Yehuda Tzvi ( otherwise known as The Red Shul ), Agudath Israel of the Five Towns, Chabad of the Five Towns, and the Young Israel of Lawrence Cedarhurst.

* Congregation Tifereth Israel Synagogue

The village's houses of worship include Congregation Sons of Israel ( CSI ), Briarcliff Congregational Church, Scarborough Presbyterian, All Saints Episcopal, St. Theresa's Catholic Church, Holy Innocents Anglican, Faith Lutheran Brethren Church, and St Mary's Episcopal Church.

Just south of it, on Pottstown Pike, is Beth Israel Congregation of Chester County ( founded 1904 ), Upper Uwchlan's only synagogue.

The Jewish Beth Israel Congregation is also in the downtown area, adjacent to the Beaufort Arsenal and Museum.

There are two Reform Judaism synagogues in Florence Beth Israel Congregation.

In New York City, Shearith Israel Congregation is the oldest continuous congregation started in 1687 having their first synagogue erected in 1728, and its current building still houses some of the original pieces of that first.

North Woodmere has a very large Jewish population and is home to several synagogues, including Congregation Ohr Torah, Young Israel of North Woodmere Beis Haknesses of North Woodmere and Temple Hillel.

Congregation Mikvé Israel ( now Mikvé Israel-Emanuel ) built this synagogue in 1692 ; it was reconstructed in 1732 and is the oldest surviving synagogue building in the western hemisphere.

The Spanish and Portuguese Synagouge, Congregation Shearith Israel at Central Park West the oldest synagogue in the U. S. est.

Some specific sites that are still in need of landmark designation are: the Russian Orthodox Cathedral, 101 Avenue A, the current home of the Pyramid Club, 128 East 13th Street, a former horse auction market and home to Frank Stella's studio, the 170-year old rowhouses at 326-328 East 4th Street, and the Congregation Mezritch Synagogue, the East Village's last operating tenement synagogue.

In addition to public Merion Elementary, Catholic, all-girls Merion Mercy Academy and its feeder school, Catholic, coeducational Waldron Mercy Academy, are found in Merion, as well as four Hebrew schools: the Solomon Schechter School, Chabad School, Congregation Adath Israel Religious School, and Lower Merion Synagogue Religious School.

Anshei Minsk Congregation Synagogue ( 1930 ), Kensington Market, Toronto

Bala Cynwyd has also drawn a number of Modern Orthodox and Conservative Jews who live within walking distance of Lower Merion Synagogue and Congregation Adath Israel on Old Lancaster Road where Bala Cynwyd meets Merion.

* Congregation Bnai ' Amoona Synagogue, St. Louis, Missouri

This was to be a stepping stone towards a greater rabbinical career, and in 1958 he assumed the rabbinate of Hermann Merkin's Fifth Avenue Synagogue in New York, a position he held until 1966, when he was called to the Chief Rabbinate of the United Hebrew Congregation of the British Commonwealth.

Princes Road Synagogue, located in Toxteth, Liverpool in England, is the home of the Liverpool Old Hebrew Congregation.

Congregation Emanu-El ( Victoria, British Columbia ) | Congregation Emmanu-El Synagogue ( 1863 ) in Victoria, British Columbia, the oldest Synagogue in Canada still in use, and the oldest on the West Coast of North America.

The 1884 Prince Street Synagogue, former home of Congregation Oheb Shalom, later Metropolitan Baptist Church, at 32 Prince Street, has been restored and converted to a nature center for Newark by the Greater Newark Conservancy.

On May 30, 1969 Forman made plans to pursue a similar course at a Jewish Synagogue, Congregation Emanu-El of the City of New York.

In contrast to this cultural blending are the resting places of members of the Ahavath Achim Synagogue, to which the Benevolent Congregation sold some of the plots.

Unlike the Benevolent Congregation, the Synagogue sought to preserve their traditional culture and to avoid cultural blending.

* Congregation Shearith Israel — the Spanish and Portuguese Synagogue ( New York, NY, USA )

During the spring semester of 2012, " Smokey III " appeared at Congregation Beth Yeshurun Synagogue in Houston, Texas to honor the Berry Family who tragically lost two parents in a car accident in July 2011.

Rabbi Haskel Lookstein scaled back his role as Principal of the Ramaz School at the end of the 2005-2006 school year, but he remained the rabbi of the associated Congregation Kehilath Jeshurun Synagogue.
