Some of these songs remained acoustic on The Beatles ( notably " Rocky Raccoon ", " Blackbird ", " Julia ", " Cry Baby Cry ", " I Will " and " Mother Nature's Son ") and were recorded in the studio either solo, or by only part of the group.

A follow-up, " Cry Baby Cry " failed to capitalise on this, but nevertheless, the group began working on a new album.

Johnson composed many hit tunes in his work for the musical theatre, including " Charleston " ( which debuted in his Broadway show Runnin ' Wild in 1923, although by some accounts Johnson had written it years earlier, and which became one of the most popular songs of the " Roaring Twenties "), " If I Could Be With You ( One Hour Tonight )", " You've Got to Be Modernistic ", " Don't Cry, Baby ", " Keep off the Grass ", " Old Fashioned Love ", " A Porter's Love Song to a Chambermaid ", " Carolina Shout ", and " Snowy Morning Blues ".

Thomas Organ then wanted the effect branded as their own for the American market, changing it to Cry Baby which was sold in parallel to the Italian Vox V846.

Thomas Organ's failure to trademark the Cry Baby name soon led to the market being flooded with Cry Baby imitations from various parts of the world, including Italy, where all of the original Vox and Cry Babys were made.

In addition to The Killers, Burt Lancaster's debut and a Hellinger / Universal coproduction, Siodmak's other important contributions to the genre include 1944's Phantom Lady ( a top-of-the-line B and Woolrich adaptation ), the ironically titled Christmas Holiday ( 1944 ), and Cry of the City ( 1948 ).

After the success of Interview with the Vampire ( 1976 ), Anne Rice wrote two extensively researched historical novels, The Feast of All Saints ( 1979 ) and Cry to Heaven ( 1982 ).

Neither of them gave her the critical acclaim or the commercial success of her first novel ; the main complaints about The Feast of All Saints were that it was too heavy and dense to read easily, and most of the reviews for Cry to Heaven were so savagely negative that Rice felt devastated.

However, it was probably best noted for his classic ballad, " Someday We'll All Be Free " and a six-minute symphonic-styled instrumental piece called " I Love The Lord, He Heard My Cry ".

" Phones Are Ringin ' All Over Town ", " Swingin ' Doors " and " Cry on the Shoulder of the Road " were less successful, reaching the lower regions of the top 40.

Grier also sang the song " It's All Right to Cry " for the children's album and TV program Free to Be … You and Me.

Cry for Us All, based on the play, Hogan's Goat, opened on Broadway in 1970 but ran for 9 performances.

She appeared in Make a Wish, Hazel Flagg, Portofino, High Button Shoes, Sweet Charity ( for which she received a 1967 Tony Award nomination for Featured Actress in a Musical ), and Cry for Us All.

The mono release contains alternative versions of " Any Time At All " ( a different mix during the instrumental bridge ), " I'll Cry Instead " ( the " missing " third verse ), " When I Get Home " ( the line " Till I walk out that door again " during the song's bridge has a different vocal passage from the UK mono mix ), and " And I Love Her " ( McCartney's non-double-tracked vocal ).

He has written about his depression in the book All Blacks Don't Cry.
