Baron Edmond Benjamin James de Rothschild ( August 19, 1845 – November 2, 1934 ) was a French member of the Rothschild banking family.

Museum expansion slowed after World War I, and the collection did not acquire many significant new works ; exceptions were Georges de La Tour's Saint Thomas and Baron Edmond de Rothschild's ( 1845 – 1934 ) 1935 donation of 4, 000 engravings, 3, 000 drawings, and 500 illustrated books.

The collection is organized into three sections: the core Cabinet du Roi, 14, 000 royal copper printing-plates, and the donations of Edmond de Rothschild, which include 40, 000 prints, 3, 000 drawings, and 5, 000 illustrated books.

This was followed by revivals of Racine's Phèdre ( 24 February ), Octave Feuillet's Dalila ( 8 March ), Gaston de Wailly's Patron Bénic ( 14 March ), Edmond Rostand's La Samaritaine ( 25 March ), and Alexandre Dumas fils's La Dame aux Camélias on 9 April.

Edmond de Goncourt modeled his acrobat-mimes in his The Zemganno Brothers ( 1879 ) upon them ; J .- K. Huysmans ( whose Against Nature would become Dorian Gray's bible ) and his friend Léon Hennique wrote their pantomime Skeptical Pierrot ( 1881 ) after seeing them perform at the Folies Bergère.

In Brian Hooker's 1923 English translation of Edmond Rostand's Cyrano de Bergerac, Cyrano disparagingly refers to the ham actor Montfleury as " That Silenus who cannot hold his belly in his arms.

By 1692, de Moivre became friends with Edmond Halley and soon after with Isaac Newton himself.

When Baron Edmond James de Rothschild took over, sending in his administrators, major progress was made in the spheres of agriculture, citrus and viticulture.

Landmarks in Rishon LeZion include the history museum ; the Carmel Winery ; the administrative center of Edmond James de Rothschild, now a soldiers ' memorial ; the Great Synagogue ; the Well ; the old water tower ; and Beit Sefer Haviv, the first Hebrew School.

The next excavation at et-Tell took place during three seasons between 1933 and 1935 and was led by Judith Marquet-Krause, with backing from Baron Edmond de Rothschild.

In its early years, however, the town had issues with land ownership having drained the swamps with the aid of Egyptian workers sent to them by Baron Edmond de Rothschild.

Edmond was selected the most outstanding community in its class for five years in a row by the State Chamber of Commerce and State Industrial Development Department.

The original plat for Edmond was prepared by the Seminole Town and Development Company, a newly formed syndicate with ties to the railroad.

In 1956, Edmond Safra settled in Geneva to set up a private bank, the Trade Development Bank, which grew from an original US $ 1 million to US $ 5 billion during the 1980s.
