In the famous 1958 Supreme Court case of Byrd v. Blue Ridge Rural Electric Cooperative, Inc., the plaintiff was a lineman harmed while doing work for a power company in rural South Carolina.

In 1978, The Electric Light Orchestra sold out eight straight concerts ( a record at the time ) during their Out of the Blue Tour.

In early 1970, Jeff Lynne left his original band, Idle Race, to join The Move as it evolved into the Electric Light Orchestra.

In January 1970, Lynne accepted a second offer by Wood to join the Move, on condition that they would eventually retire that band and concentrate on a new venture, Electric Light Orchestra.

Paine resigned from NASA September 15, 1970, to return to the General Electric Co. in New York City as Vice President and Group Executive, Power Generation Group, ( worldwide ship propulsion, nuclear power and steam and gas turbine generators ), and later became Senior Vice President for Science and Technology ( oversight of GE's research and development ).
