The Arcadia 2001 is a second-generation 8-bit console released by Emerson Radio Corp.

Arcadia Corporation, manufacturer of the 2600 supercharger, was sued by Emerson for trademark infringement.

Emerson licensed the Arcadia 2001 worldwide, and over 30 Arcadia clones exist.

Emerson actually created many popular arcade titles including Pac-Man, Galaxian and Defender for the Arcadia and had them manufactured.

At the time of the U. S crash, there were numerous consoles on the market, including the Atari 2600, the Atari 5200, the Bally Astrocade, the ColecoVision, the Coleco Gemini ( a 2600 clone ), the Emerson Arcadia 2001, the Fairchild Channel F System II, the Magnavox Odyssey < sup > 2 </ sup >, the Mattel Intellivision ( and its just-released update with several peripherals, the Intellivision II ), the Sears Tele-Games systems ( which included both 2600 and Intellivision clones ), the Tandyvision ( an Intellivision clone for Radio Shack ), and the Vectrex.

The company was founded in 1981 under the name Arcadia Corporation, but it changed its name to Starpath shortly after for trademark reasons ( Emerson Radio Corporation had released a video game console named the Emerson Arcadia 2001 ).

It was also released in North America by Taito America Corporation by UA Ltd. in 1982 for the Emerson Arcadia 2001 and other video game consoles.

In 1982 the Bandai Arcadia, a variant of the Emerson Arcadia 2001, was released in Japan by Bandai.
