The European Investment Fund, established in 1994, is a European Union agency for the provision of finance to SMEs ( small and medium-sized enterprises ), headquartered in Luxembourg.

Its shareholders are: the European Investment Bank ( 62 %); the European Communities, represented by the European Commission ( 29 %); and 30 privately owned EU financial institutions ( 9 %).

The deal, set to close September 30, 2009, included 600 million in financing from the European Investment Bank, guaranteed by the Swedish government.

The World Bank, African Development Bank, European Investment Bank, and many other bilateral donors are financing the project.

The European Investment Bank — the financial institution of the European Union — is also located there.

Two European Union institutions are also financing members: the European Community and the European Investment Bank.

The EBRD is not to be confused with the European Investment Bank ( EIB ) which is owned by the EU member states and supports EU policy.

In 2002, Tunisia borrowed € 300 million from the European Investment Bank in 2002 to be used to improve roads in the country including € 120 million towards building a motorway between Tunis and Sfax.

Most of the shares in the Development Bank of Comoros were held by the Comoran government and the central bank ; the rest were held by the European Investment Bank and the Central Bank for Economic Cooperation ( Caisse Centrale de Coopération Économique — CCCE ), a development agency of the French government.

The European Investment Bank is the European Union's long-term lending institution established in 1958 under the Treaty of Rome.

Azerbaijan is a member of the United Nations, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, NATO's Partnership for Peace, Euro-Atlantic Partnership ; World Health Organization, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development ; the Council of Europe, CFE Treaty, the Community of Democracies ; the International Monetary Fund ; and the World Bank.

Most recently in 2011, the Charlemagne Award was conferred on Jean-Claude Trichet, the president of the European Central Bank.

Banca d ' Italia ( Italian for Bank of Italy ) is the central bank of Italy and part of the European System of Central Banks.

After the charge of monetary and exchange rate policies was shifted in 1998 to the European Central Bank, within the European institutional framework, the bank implements the decisions, issues euro banknotes and withdraws and destroys worn pieces.

Other multilateral organizations — including the World Bank, International Monetary Fund, United Nations agencies, European Union, and the African Development Bank -- and bilateral donors — including Germany, Japan, the European Union, and the United States — are significant development partners for the C. A. R.

Furthermore, there are 52 foreign embassies and 69 consulates in the Republic of Croatia in addition to offices of international organizations such as the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, International Organization for Migration, Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe ( OSCE ), World Bank, World Health Organization, International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia ( ICTY ), United Nations Development Programme, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and UNICEF.

In June 2012 the Cypriot finance minister Vassos Shiarly stated that the European Central Bank, European commission and IMF officials are to carry out an in-depth investigation into Cyprus ' economy and banking sector to assess the level of funding it requires.

Examples include the European Central Bank ( ECB ), the Federal Reserve of the United States, and the People's Bank of China.

Evolving further partly in response to the European Central Bank, the People's Bank of China has by 2000 become a modern central bank.

In other cases, central banks may incorporate the word " Central " ( for example, European Central Bank, Central Bank of Ireland ); but the Central Bank of India is a ( government-owned ) commercial bank and not a central bank.

The term " secular " is more popular as a self-description among Israeli families of western ( European ) origin, whose Jewish identity may be a very powerful force in their lives, but who see it as largely independent of traditional religious belief and practice.
