Seven Founders -- George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Alexander Hamilton, James Madison and John Jay -- determined the destinies of the new nation.

George Herbert Walker Bush was born at 173 Adams Street in Milton, Massachusetts on June 12, 1924 to Prescott Sheldon Bush and Dorothy Walker Bush.

Soon after, George Washington appointed Adams minister to the Netherlands ( at the age of 26 ) in 1794.

They named their first son George Washington Adams ( 1801 – 1829 ) after the first president.

John Adams and John Quincy Adams were the first father and son to each serve as president ( the others being George H. W. Bush and George W. Bush ).

After studying with George Sylvester Morris, Charles Sanders Peirce, Herbert Baxter Adams, and G. Stanley Hall, Dewey received his Ph. D. from the School of Arts & Sciences at Johns Hopkins University.

* 1797 – In the first ever peaceful transfer of power between elected leaders in modern times, John Adams is sworn in as President of the United States, succeeding George Washington.

John Adams wrote the preamble, which stated that because King George had rejected reconciliation and was hiring foreign mercenaries to use against the colonies, " it is necessary that the exercise of every kind of authority under the said crown should be totally suppressed ".

The United States ' only Federalist president was John Adams ; although George Washington was broadly sympathetic to the Federalist program, he remained an independent his entire presidency.

In this capacity, only four Vice Presidents have been able to announce their own election to the presidency: John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Martin Van Buren, and George H. W. Bush.

General George Washington is certified as President-elect and John Adams is certified as Vice-President elect.

The delegates which included George Washington, then a colonel of the Virginia volunteers, Patrick Henry, and John Adams, were elected by their respective colonial assemblies.
