Archtop guitars can be mass produced, such as the Ibanez Artcore series, or handmade by luthiers such as Robert Benedetto.

Ibanez sell an extensive range of archtops under the Artcore marque.

* Ibanez AW Series, acoustic guitars

Under a licensing deal Ibanez guitars released an H. R. Giger signature series: the Ibanez ICHRG2, an Ibanez Iceman, features " NY City VI ", the Ibanez RGTHRG1 has " NY City XI " printed on it, the S Series SHRG1Z has a metal-coated engraving of " Biomechanical Matrix " on it, and a 4-string SRX bass, SRXHRG1, has " N. Y. City X " on it.

He also used a white 1987 Fender Precision bass on the albums " Eaten Back to Life " and " Butchered At Birth ", an Ibanez Sabre SB900 on the album " Tomb of the Mutilated ", an Ibanez Soundgear SR1500 on " The Bleeding " and both a 1971 Precision Bass as well as a Spector NS Series 5-string bass on " Vile ".

Also used were an Ibanez Custom Shop guitar ( probably based on an RG ), a custom from Performance Guitars, a couple of various unknown Strat style guitars and a black Hurricane EX Series with 3 single coil pickups.

Li uses Ibanez E-gen guitars, his signature Ibanez models based on his old Ibanez S Series, which was retired from stage at the end of the Inhuman Rampage tour.

Maurice Summerfield of the Charles Summerfield Ltd company contributed some design ideas to Hoshino Gakki and also imported Ibanez and CSL guitars into the UK with Hoshino Gakki cooperation from 1964 – 1987.

Solid body seven-strings were popularized in the 1980s and 1990s in part due to the release of the Ibanez Universe guitar, endorsed by Steve Vai.

* Ibanez Guitars has released second generation of H. R. Giger Signature Models hr giger RG & hr giger S series with legacy artwork on the guitar body, second generation of 4-string guitar bass SRXHRG1 also released with the same concept.

Japanese guitar makers in the 1960s were mostly copying European guitar designs and some of the late 1960s Ibanez designs were similar to Hagström and EKO guitar designs.

Hoshino Gakki used the Teisco and FujiGen Gakki guitar factories to manufacture Ibanez guitars after they stopped manufacturing their own guitars in 1966 and after the Teisco guitar factory closed down in 1969 / 1970 Hoshino Gakki used the FujiGen Gakki guitar factory to make most Ibanez guitars.

In the 1960s Japanese guitar makers started to mainly copy American guitar designs and Ibanez branded copies of Gibson, Fender and Rickenbacker models started to appear.

Most Ibanez guitars were made for Hoshino Gakki by the FujiGen guitar factory in Japan up until the mid-to-late 1980s and from then on Ibanez guitars have also been made in other Asian countries such as Korea, China and Indonesia.

During the early 1980s the FujiGen guitar factory also produced most of the Roland guitar synthesizers, including the Stratocaster-style Roland G-505, the twin-humbucker Roland G-202 ( endorsed by Eric Clapton, Dean Brown, Jeff Baxter, Yannis Spathas, Steve Howe, Mike Rutherford, Andy Summers and Steve Hackett ) and the Ibanez X-ING IMG-2010.

In the 1970s, Hoshino Gakki and Kanda Shokai shared some guitar designs and so some Ibanez and Greco guitars have the same features.

Guitar brands such as Antoria shared some Ibanez guitar designs.

The Maxxas brand name came about because Hoshino Gakki thought that the guitar did not fit in with the Ibanez model range and was therefore named Maxxas by Rich Lasner from Hoshino USA.

Since then, the RG series has introduced fixed bridge models, but Ibanez still produces the RGA series with an arched top to differentiate from the RG series. The arched top allows for added comfort while playing the guitar.

The Ibanez RGD guitar was developed for heavy metal guitar players.

He had produced a signature model with Ibanez ( based on the Ibanez SZ line of guitars ) called the MFM, but this model was available in Japan and not in the US.

The modern era of Ibanez guitars began in 1957 and the late 1950s and 1960s Ibanez catalogues show guitars with some wild looking designs.

Hoshino Gakki's relationship with Frank Zappa's former guitarist Steve Vai resulted in the introduction of the Ibanez JEM and the Ibanez Universe models and after the earlier successes of the Roadstar and Iceman models in the late 1970s / early 1980s, Hoshino Gakki entered the superstrat market with the RG series which were a lower priced version of the Ibanez JEM model.

The Ibanez ARX is a set-in neck, double cutaway guitar with 22 frets on a 24. 75 " scale.

While his mainstay effects were the Ibanez Tube Screamer and a Vox wah-wah pedal, Vaughan experimented with a range of effects.

He uses effects such as two Ibanez TS-9 Tube Screamers ( with Analogman's Silver Mod ) in sequence, the famous Univibe clone, the Black Cat Vibe, a Ross compressor ( he switched to Analogman's Bicompressor around 1998, dropped the compressor from his rig in 2002, and resumed use the Ross Compressor in 2008 when a group of fans who desired the return of Trey's " signature " Ross compressor sound pooled their resources to obtain a vintage Ross Compressor and sent it to Trey in an attempt to compel him to return the vintage effect pedal to his rig.

All of Holland's Ibanez RG body guitars are made out of mahogany and fitted with DiMarzio Super Distortion bridge pickups.

Cazares ' main guitars in Fear Factory are custom-made 7-string Ibanez models with Seymour Duncan Blackouts pickups installed, usually detuned a whole step ( A, D, G, C, F, A, D ; from Obsolete on ) to allow for even lower registers.

His main guitar in Asesino is an Ibanez prototype 8-string guitar ( standard tuning with two extra basses: ( F #, B, E, A, D, G, B, E ) loaded with 2 Seymour Duncan Blackout 8 active pickups.

Before using Ibanez guitars, his main instrument was a black ESP M-I 6-string guitar with a single EMG 81 in the bridge, detuned to B tuning.

His first known Ibanez 7-string is a Ibanez Universe UV7SBK " Silver Dot ", with a modified pick guard to fit a single passive pickup and a volume knob.

He was also known to have an Ibanez Universe UV777BK with similar modifications, except with an EMG 7-string prototype instead of a passive pickup.
