The planet was not referred to by name until the 2006 Christmas Special, was depicted in a flashback in " The Sound of Drums ", and played an important role in the plot of " The End of Time ".

In " The Sound of Drums ", the Doctor says that Gallifrey was called the Shining World of the Seventh System.

The Citadel of the Time Lords stands on the Continent of Wild Endeavour, in the Mountains of Solace and Solitude (" The Sound of Drums "), where the capital is also located.

It is not clear whether this building is in the capital or outside it and equally it is unclear whether it is a single building or different for each group of Time Lords ( Borusa refers to Prydon Academy in The Deadly Assassin, but the Doctor in The Time Monster and The Sound of Drums refers to it as a single Academy ).

The planet makes its first appearance in the revived series in " The Sound of Drums ", where the Citadel, enclosed in a glass dome ( as described by the Doctor in " Gridlock "), is seen in flashback as the Doctor describes it.

This backstory is hard to reconcile with The Sound of Drums which shows the Master as a child and the Doctor's reaction to Jenny's creation through a process similar to looming in The Doctor's Daughter.

In the Doctor Who episode " The Sound of Drums ", The Master says to the American President, " Anything I could do?

* In " The Sound of Drums ", the Master reveals his laser screwdriver.

Various episodes, notably " The Sound of Drums ", also note that the TARDIS generates a perception filter to reinforce the idea that it is perfectly ordinary.

A similar situation occurred in " The Sound of Drums ", where the Master uses specially made technology to age the Tenth Doctor by a century, leaving him in a frail and helpless state.

The Master says in " The Sound of Drums " that the Time Lords " resurrected " him to fight in the Time War, which appears to support this.

It is implied ( in The Invasion of Time and The Deadly Assassin ) that the terms " Gallifreyan " and " Time Lord " may not be synonymous, and that Time Lords are simply that subset of Gallifreyans who have achieved the status of Time Lord via achievement in the Gallifreyan collegiate system ; in the episode " The Sound of Drums " The Doctor talks of ' children of Gallifrey ' which implies that children are Gallifreyan before they are Time Lords.

In " The Sound of Drums ", the Master is seen as a child, apparently at the age of 8.

The Doctor states that the Time Lords were sworn never to interfere, only to watch (" The Sound of Drums ").

Among the nation's first bands that played Christian rock was The Crusaders, a Southern Californian garage rock band, whose November 1966 Tower Records album Make a Joyful Noise with Drums and Guitars is considered one of the first gospel rock releases, or even " the first record of Christian rock ", and Mind Garage, " arguably the first band of its kind ", whose 1967 Electric Liturgy was recorded in 1969 at RCA's " Nashville Sound " studio.
